Google's long-anticipated Gemini-powered smart speaker, tentatively named the Google Home Speaker, appears to have an official release date of June 25, 2026. This potential launch window emerged from a product listing on Best Buy Canada's website. While the American Best Buy site and the official Google Store have yet to confirm the date, the Canadian listing suggests the device could arrive just days after the official start of summer.

First teased at the Made by Google event in August 2025, with further details surfacing in October, the Google Home Speaker represents Google's latest foray into the smart home audio market since its last speaker release in 2020. The device is expected to retail for $99.99 and will be available in four distinct color options: Berry (a shade of pink/red), Hazel (a black/gray blend), Jade (a light green), and Porcelain (a neutral beige/white). The speaker boasts a 360-degree design, enveloped in fabric with a distinct base housing status lights and a microphone mute switch.

Enhanced Audio and Connectivity Features

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Google Home Speaker promises significant upgrades in functionality. Users will be able to pair two of these new speakers with the Google TV Streamer to create a more immersive home theater system. Additionally, the speaker supports stereo pairing and grouping with existing Nest speakers for robust multi-room audio experiences. This connectivity aims to seamlessly integrate the new hardware into existing Google smart home ecosystems.

The development of the Google Home Speaker has been ongoing, with Google actively updating the preview experience for its Gemini for Home service. Since March 2026, Google has been rolling out updates to existing speakers and displays three to four times per month, refining the AI capabilities that will power the new device. While the physical hardware is presumed to be complete, the software integration of Gemini for Home, which is still part of an early access program, is likely the final hurdle before a public release.

The Google Home Speaker is slated for a broad international debut, with availability planned for 19 countries. These include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. This wide distribution strategy underscores Google's commitment to expanding its smart home presence globally. The inclusion of advanced AI features powered by Gemini is expected to differentiate the Google Home Speaker in a competitive market, offering users a more intuitive and personalized audio experience.
