Lamborghini Revuelto SV: Super Veloce Boosts V12 Hybrid Power

Automobili Lamborghini has unveiled the Revuelto SV, an even more potent iteration of its top-tier V12 hybrid supercar. The "Superveloce" (meaning "superfast") designation, which dates back to the iconic 1971 Miura SV, signifies a significant performance upgrade over the standard Revuelto. This latest model aims to deepen the connection between driver and machine, a philosophy Lamborghini product line director Alessandro Farmeschi described as the "quantum of driving." "For us, quantum of driving is the moment when you get into the car, you start driving the car, and the car and you become one piece," Farmeschi explained. "And you start just thinking about your drive, feeling the adrenaline of the acceleration, braking, the G-forces, you know. You feel everything and you basically forget about the rest because you are so concentrated and you enjoy so much this experience."

The Revuelto SV's hybrid-electric powertrain continues to feature a massive 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine paired with three electric motors. Together, they generate a formidable 1,065 cv (approximately 1,050 horsepower), an increase of about 50 hp compared to the original Revuelto. This power boost is supported by an upgraded battery package, which maintains its form factor but increases energy capacity to 7.3 kWh and delivers higher power output. The improvements are specifically designed to ensure more consistent performance during demanding driving conditions, aiming for a flatter output curve throughout a racing lap.

Enhanced Aerodynamics and Reduced Weight

Lamborghini engineers have meticulously worked to enhance the Revuelto SV's performance through both increased power and reduced weight. The transmission's shifting time has been cut by 30 percent, contributing to more responsive acceleration. Carbon fiber is utilized extensively across the vehicle, including the entirely new front bumper, rear wing, door panels, and racing seats, all contributing to shaving off critical kilograms. The result is an improved power-to-weight ratio of 1.66 kg/CV, surpassing the standard Revuelto's 1.75 kg/CV. Aerodynamics have also seen a substantial boost, with downforce increased by 80 percent. This is largely attributed to the redesigned front bumper and a novel rear wing that integrates two distinct wing designs into a single unit. The front-end modifications alone reportedly double the front downforce compared to the standard model, enhancing stability during corner entry and effectively "gluing" the front of the car to the track. This allows for a breathtaking 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) acceleration time of just 2.4 seconds, matching the performance of Lamborghini's previously acclaimed fastest production model.

Beyond the sheer numbers, Farmeschi emphasized the emotional aspect of the enhanced driving experience. "Because emotion is driving the car, it’s being so fast… enjoying the car, going beyond even your limits because the car also helps you to manage the performance," he stated. To complement the increased speed and agility, the Revuelto SV is equipped with a new CCM-R Plus braking system, an upgrade from the carbon-ceramic brakes on the standard model. These new discs are thicker and larger in diameter, featuring radial holes for improved cooling under extreme stress, enabling drivers to brake harder and later with confidence.

Further refining the driving dynamics, Lamborghini introduces a new "Pilota" mode, inspired by its GT racing program. Accessible via a helmet icon on the steering wheel, drivers can select one of five levels using rotary controls to adjust the car's stability systems. The vehicle's six-dimensional sensor, located in the center tunnel, measures comprehensive G-forces and movements, feeding data to the Pilota system. This allows drivers to tailor the car's behavior, such as making it "a bit more, let's say, loose," as Farmeschi described, to better utilize the track or cornering dynamics based on their individual driving style.

Despite earlier considerations for an all-electric sports car, Lamborghini has recommitted to its hybrid strategy, believing electric motors enhance torque vectoring and overall driving dynamics, justifying the added weight of the battery. The hybrid system also offers a practical, albeit niche, benefit: silent operation on electric-only power for discreet departures. The electric-only range extends to approximately 15 kilometers (about 10 miles), suitable for navigating restricted urban zones or quiet neighborhood exits. While pricing for the Revuelto SV has not yet been officially announced, the standard Revuelto starts at over $612,000, suggesting the SV variant will likely command a premium, potentially exceeding $750,000 before options.
