Experts estimate the crash will occur at a velocity of approximately 5,400 miles per hour, creating a small crater upon impact.

The object in question is the Falcon 9 rocket's upper stage, which completed its mission to deploy a NASA climate satellite in February 2015. After its successful deployment, the booster was left in a chaotic orbit, and over the years, its trajectory has been subtly altered by gravitational forces and solar radiation pressure. This gradual drift has now resulted in a predicted impact with the Moon, an event that has never before been documented with man-made debris.

Tracking the Lunar Impactor
