Samsung Electronics has officially launched the beta program for its latest One UI 9 software, making it available to users of the Galaxy S26 series this week. This new iteration, built upon the foundation of the upcoming Android 17 operating system, introduces a suite of expanded creative tools, enhanced customization options, and a more accessible user experience, all while bolstering protection against potential security threats.

The full capabilities of One UI 9 are slated for introduction with future Galaxy flagship devices later this year. These upcoming devices are expected to feature advanced artificial intelligence capabilities designed to streamline and simplify mobile interactions.

Within the One UI 9 beta, users can explore several key updates. The Samsung Notes application has been enhanced with new creative features, including decorative tapes and a broader selection of pen line styles, allowing for more expressive digital note-taking. Additionally, the Contacts app now provides direct integration with Creative Studio, enabling users to design personalized profile cards without navigating away from the app.

The Quick Panel has also received a significant overhaul, granting users greater control over its layout. Individual adjustments are now possible for brightness, sound, and the media player, with increased size options to cater to diverse user preferences. This level of granular control aims to tailor the mobile interface to each user's specific needs.

Enhanced Accessibility and Security Features

Accessibility has been a major focus in One UI 9. The beta introduces an adjustable Mouse Key speed for more fluid cursor control and combines Google and Samsung's TalkBack features into a single package, simplifying screen reader functionality. A new Text Spotlight feature highlights selected text in a larger, clearer floating window, significantly improving readability for all users.

Beyond user interface enhancements, One UI 9 also brings stronger security measures. The software now actively warns users, blocks execution and installation, and recommends deletion of potentially high-risk apps through updated security policies. This proactive approach aims to shield devices from emerging threats.

The One UI 9 beta program is currently accessible to Galaxy S26 series owners in select international markets, including Germany, India, South Korea, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Interested users can apply to participate through the Samsung Members application on their devices.
