iOS 27 Beta 3 Brings Siri Customization and New Accessibility Features
Apple's iOS 27 Beta 3 is rolling out with enhanced Siri voice customization, new Live Recognition for accessibility, and refinements to Photos and Control Center. The update prepares for the fall launch.

Apple is continuing its development cycle for iOS 27, releasing the third beta version to developers and testers on July 6, 2026. This latest iteration introduces several user-facing enhancements, including more personalized Siri interactions, advanced accessibility tools, and under-the-hood improvements to core applications like Photos and Shortcuts. The updates are part of Apple's ongoing effort to refine the operating system ahead of its anticipated public release in September.
One of the most significant additions is the ability to customize Siri's voice. Previously in beta but inactive, the Siri Voice Customization feature is now fully functional on compatible devices, such as the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air. Users can now adjust the pace and expressivity of Siri's voice, choosing from two base voice options. This advanced on-device processing capability allows for a more tailored user experience, making interactions with the virtual assistant feel more natural and personal.
Accessibility sees a notable boost with the introduction of a new 'Live Recognition' section within the Accessibility settings. This feature leverages on-device intelligence to interpret and describe objects and surroundings captured by the device's camera. Users can ask the camera app questions about what it detects, with an option to set a default query. Furthermore, support for custom activities within Live Recognition allows users to tailor the feature to specific needs.
User Interface and Application Enhancements
Beyond Siri and accessibility, iOS 27 Beta 3 brings a host of smaller but impactful changes across the system. The Reminders app now sports an updated icon featuring Liquid Glass to-do list bullets. In the Photos app, a new 'Show Rating Controls' toggle in Settings allows users to display star ratings on photos and videos, with rating badges appearing on thumbnails for easier organization.
Control Center users will appreciate the ability to view detailed cellular connection information, even when connected to Wi-Fi. This display includes signal strength and the type of connection (LTE or 5G). For users creating new automation routines, the Shortcuts app now offers a choice between opening directly to the 'Describe a Shortcut' interface or the manual editor. A subtle but visually interesting change affects the wallpaper display: when swiping down to the notification center, a cutout of the wallpaper's subject now appears overlaid on the current screen.
Further refinements include updates to AirPods' Adaptive mode, offering a slider to balance transparency and noise cancellation. Apple has also clarified requirements for its upcoming Apple Intelligence features within the Home app, indicating they will necessitate a 2GB iCloud+ plan. Maps has seen a tooltip addition to clarify that route preferences are still accessible by tapping under the options interface when requesting directions. Finally, the Lock Screen buttons in Control Center have transitioned from white to black icons, particularly noticeable against certain wallpapers.
The release also notes the broader availability of 5G+ in India on supported carriers, indicating continued network expansion. These ongoing updates demonstrate Apple's commitment to refining the iOS experience, integrating advanced AI capabilities, and ensuring a robust feature set for its user base before the official launch.
