Logitech has unveiled its latest peripherals, the Signature Comfort Plus M850 L mouse and the MK880 keyboard, designed to enhance user comfort during long work sessions. These devices, however, primarily cater to right-handed users and feature limited options for customization, particularly concerning the integrated palm cushions.

The Signature Comfort Plus M850 L mouse boasts several features typical of mid-range devices. It includes a versatile scroll wheel that allows for precise incremental movements or rapid scrolling. Buttons are strategically positioned for easy access and can be customized using the Logi Options+ software. The mouse sides are coated in rubber for grip, and its buttons offer a near-silent click, though they are constructed from a plastic that feels somewhat brittle. Logitech states that between 49% and 77% of the plastic components in the Comfort Plus range are derived from recycled materials. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, with compatibility across Windows, macOS, iPadOS, ChromeOS, Linux, and Android OS 12.0 and later. For business users requiring enhanced security, the Logi Bolt USB receiver is available, though it does not support Android or iPadOS. The mouse weighs 107.9g with an included AA battery, which Logitech estimates will last up to two years. Its dimensions are 121.8mm in depth, 74.3mm in height, and 44.2mm in width.

Ergonomic Design and Customization Limitations

While the mouse fits comfortably in the right hand, its exclusive design for right-handed users presents a significant limitation. Another point of contention is the non-removable palm cushion. Logitech indicated a willingness to provide replacement parts and instructions upon request, but an easily detachable cushion could have offered greater user customization. A similar design choice appears in the Signature Comfort Plus MK880 keyboard, which also features an integrated palm rest that is not easily replaceable. In the case of the keyboard, this integration is more understandable, as palm rests have long been a standard feature and often integral to the keyboard's structure.

The MK880 keyboard is a full-size device featuring function keys programmable via the Logitech Options+ application. Its ergonomic design is characterized by a gentle, thoughtful curve rather than aggressive sculpting, allowing the deep-cushioned keys to flow naturally. Keyboard preference is highly subjective, with users often divided between laptop-style chiclet keys and the tactile feedback of mechanical keyboards. This Logitech keyboard offers quiet keypresses, making it suitable for office environments, though some users might desire more tactile feedback. The absence of a backlight is noted, though understandable given the wireless nature of the device and the potential battery drain it would cause. Powered by two AAA batteries, Logitech claims they can last up to three years, a stark contrast to keyboards that rely on backlighting. The keyboard also offers adjustable typing angles at 0°, 4°, or 8°. Both the keyboard and mouse can be paired with up to three devices simultaneously, enhancing productivity for users managing multiple systems.

Overall, the Logitech Signature Comfort Plus range exemplifies the company's consistent quality in input devices. The keyboard is comfortable, and the mouse fits well in hand, albeit with the caveat for right-handed users. While the cushioned mouse adds a touch of comfort, the option to purchase it without the cushion, or to use a high-quality soft-touch plastic, might suffice for many. The new Signature Comfort Plus lineup, including the M850 L palm cushion mouse, the MK880 combo, and the M840 L non-cushion mouse, is set to become available globally in June 2026 with prices starting at $49.99 for the mouse, $99.99 for the combo, and $39.99 for the non-cushion mouse. These ergonomic mouse options are worth considering for users seeking to refresh their computer peripherals or upgrade to more comfortable equipment.
