Pocketpair, the developer behind the massively successful creature-collecting survival game Palworld, has officially announced "Palworld Online," a new massively multiplayer online (MMO) game slated for release on iOS and Android mobile devices sometime in 2026. The mobile title is being developed by Garena, a Singapore-based company known for its extensive experience in global mobile game publishing and live operations, under an official Pocketpair license.

The announcement comes as Palworld continues to break records following its 1.0 launch, drawing enormous player counts on Steam. Palworld Online aims to capitalize on this momentum by offering players a new experience within the Palworld universe. While specific details about new maps or Pals have not yet been revealed, the game is confirmed to feature a new story, expanded lore, and original quests. It will incorporate MMO-style cooperative play, Player vs. Environment (PvE) content, and will retain the series' signature elements of Pal capturing and base building, all within a "seamless open world."

Mobile Expansion and Player Concerns

The decision to develop a mobile MMO has drawn mixed reactions from the community. While the delegation of mobile projects to specialized developers is common practice, the "mobile" designation often raises concerns among gamers, who typically associate it with microtransactions and different gameplay design philosophies compared to PC or console titles. Many such mobile games are primarily targeted toward the Asian market, where the MMO genre is particularly popular, though the potential for success in Western markets remains. It is important to note that a Palworld mobile game by Krafton already exists, but Palworld Online is presented as a distinct offering with unique content.

Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe expressed optimism about the partnership. "Garena has extensive experience in global publishing, localization, and live operations for mobile games," Mizobe stated. "We are pleased to work with Garena on the licensed development of Palworld Online and look forward to seeing a new Palworld experience brought to players worldwide." This move follows the recent release of a Palworld card game, indicating a rapid expansion of the Palworld intellectual property across various media and platforms.

Pocketpair has publicly stated its urgent need to hire staff to manage the intense demands of the original Palworld game. By outsourcing the development of Palworld Online to Garena, Pocketpair can focus its internal resources on the main title. Garena boasts nearly 15 years of experience and has previously worked on numerous mobile titles, including those based on prominent intellectual properties such as Path of Exile, League of Legends, Need for Speed, and EA Sports FC.

The success of Palworld Online will ultimately depend on its ability to appeal to both existing fans of the main game and a broader mobile gaming audience. Pocketpair and Garena are betting on the existence of a significant player base for this mobile MMO adaptation. Official details regarding monetization strategies, such as potential microtransactions—a common feature in mobile games but absent from the original Palworld—remain to be seen. Players will find out later in 2026 whether this new venture resonates with the Palworld community.
