Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 with Advanced AI
Samsung has launched its eighth-generation foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8, emphasizing agentic AI and refined hardware designs for enhanced productivity and user experience.

Samsung Electronics introduced its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8, at the Galaxy Unpacked event held in London on July 28, 2026. The new lineup integrates advanced agentic artificial intelligence with hardware tailored to diverse user needs, promising three distinct foldable experiences.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra stands out as the first "Ultra" model in Samsung's foldable portfolio. It boasts an ultra-level performance paired with a spacious 8-inch foldable display designed to boost productivity through AI-powered multitasking. Measuring a mere 4.1 millimeters thick when unfolded and weighing 215 grams, it is the thinnest Galaxy Z Fold to date. Samsung has refined the folding mechanism and display tension using its proprietary Flex Titanium technology to minimize creases and enhance durability. The expansive display also powers enhanced AI features, such as Gemini Notebook, which can summarize meeting materials from PDFs or audio recordings and transform them into various formats like AI-generated videos, presentations, or podcasts. Agentic AI, through a feature called Now Nudge, anticipates multitasking needs, for instance, suggesting adding event details from a message directly to the calendar and opening the Calendar app simultaneously. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and a 5,000mAh battery.
Enhanced Foldable Experiences and AI Integration
The Galaxy Z Fold8 features a reimagined form factor with an all-new aspect ratio optimized for a wide range of content. The main display adopts a 4:3 aspect ratio ideal for media consumption, which transitions to a 3:4 ratio for reading or web browsing when rotated. The cover screen's 10:16 aspect ratio offers a familiar interface for short-form content. Weighing just 201 grams, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is the lightest in its series, supporting over 26 hours of video playback on its 4,800mAh battery. Beyond consumption, it includes AI tools for creation, such as My FanCam, which automatically reframes videos around a selected subject. An advanced agentic AI can also assist with tasks like booking hotels while the user continues to use other applications, allowing for a streamlined experience.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 focuses on portability and convenience, measuring 6.1 millimeters thick and weighing 180 grams when unfolded. It features a stronger frame and a more durable hinge. Its enhanced FlexWindow offers greater versatility, allowing users to access information and features without unfolding the device. The new Now Brief feature provides instant updates on weather, schedules, and notifications directly on the cover screen, with personalized cards for information like exchange rates and stock updates. App functionality extends to the FlexWindow, enabling users to browse photos, chat, and complete tasks. The camera system also sees improvements, with Camcorder Grip for stable one-handed recording and Dual Recording to capture both the creator and subject simultaneously.
Collectively, the eighth-generation Galaxy Z series aims to expand the possibilities of foldable devices by offering AI-driven productivity, optimized content viewing, and everyday convenience. Samsung continues to innovate in the foldable phone market, aiming to provide users with more tailored mobile experiences.
