Nintendo Customer Appreciation Sale Offers 30% Off Games
Nintendo announced its largest promotion ever, offering 30% off digital games and select physical titles, accessories, and more. The sale is possible due to tariff-related refunds received by the company.

Nintendo is launching what it calls one of its largest promotions ever, slashing prices by 30% on dozens of digital Nintendo Switch games and bundles. The Customer Appreciation Sale, which also includes discounts on select physical games, downloadable content, accessories, and apparel, began September 12 and will run through September 26. The promotion is available across the Nintendo eShop, the official Nintendo Store, and through participating retailers in North America.
The significant discounts are being made possible by "tariff-related refunds," Nintendo of America stated in a news release. While the company absorbed the majority of costs associated with tariffs, these reimbursements allowed for the substantial price reductions. This announcement follows months of legal discussions and scrutiny over how companies should handle money returned after certain tariffs were previously deemed unlawful.
In a July court filing, Nintendo argued that consumers were not entitled to retroactive refunds, asserting that customers received products at the prices advertised at the time of purchase. The company maintained that customers received "exactly what they bargained and paid for," and subsequent changes to tariff policy did not obligate them to lower prices after the fact.
Tariffs Impacted Nintendo Switch Pricing Previously
The relationship between tariffs and Nintendo's pricing has been a point of contention. In 2025, Nintendo increased the prices of several Switch products, citing "market conditions." The original Nintendo Switch saw a $40 price hike, bringing its cost to $339.99, while the Switch Lite increased by $30 to $229.99. The Switch OLED model was raised by $50 to $399.99. Furthermore, Nintendo had announced in May that the upcoming Switch 2 would launch at $499.99, a $50 increase from its originally anticipated $449.99 price, also attributed to changing market conditions.
Nintendo has consistently stated that its pricing decisions consider various factors, including the costs of memory, labor, shipping, and tariffs. The company also indicated it absorbed a significant portion of tariff-related costs for the Switch 2, rather than passing the full amount directly to consumers.
This major sale, fueled by the unexpected tariff refunds, presents a significant opportunity for gamers to acquire titles and accessories at reduced prices. The promotion covers a wide range of content, making it a noteworthy event for the Nintendo Switch community. The duration of the sale ensures ample time for consumers to take advantage of these deals, which are among the most substantial Nintendo has offered in recent memory.
